Review 5/17/2011
On May 12, 2011 I found an advertisement for a Toyota Corolla for $14.995, the ad was from Los Angeles times, I headed early morning with my wife who is battling cancer and just few day from her discharge from the City of Hope. The joy of getting a new car was not going to keep her home. I was greeted by a sales person who took us around the lot to find the advertised vehicle. Once the vehicle was found we headed inside the office to finish the paper work and ride home with the new car. The car special price of “$14.995” reflected a $1000.00 Factory rebate and an additional $750.00 Grade rebate. The salesman “Estevan”, who is been selling cars for a while, attempted to give me some incorrect information pertaining to the exact graduation timeframe allowed by Toyota to utilize the rebate. After finding out that I was very well informed with the disclosure and the terms of the rebate, he had no other way except by changing his stand. Now comes the fun part, Estevan, the sales person heads inside the glass chamber of doom where the sales manager and the finance manger were very desperate to find any loop-holes to deny me the sale. My credit was immaculate, and the graduation status was within the boundaries. Yet, they frantically came with a very poor and desperate plan and requested that I provide them with bank statement and the original graduation diploma. I did oblige by driving home and get them what they wanted so I can get the grade rebate and drive the car home. They were very stunned and confused by how they can get out of this deal since this vehicle is a loss-leader. So they came up with the most ironic story to retract and deny me the opportunity to buy the car. They told me I need to prove that I shall be getting hired within 120 from my graduation date and being a self-employed, I will not qualify for the rebate. After going in a stinky ordeal; I decided to let go of the $750.00 grade rebate and get the car at the discounted price. That’s when the dealer dropped the bomb and bluntly told me that they will not sell the car to me at this price and advised me to go to another dealership if I need to get a good deal. How bad this dealership can get? conniving, manipulating, scamming and bad business practice and ethics all around.
