Review 11/3/2009
Service was not given as stated by sales rep before the movers arrived. The day the movers were to arrive, Joe, the driver called and said he was lost and his paperwork stated the wrong city. They showed up 2 hrs late. Then they were in a small white truck with only 2 laborers to load. I asked where the big truck was and the other movers that we had been promised, and was told, "this is the way we do it." We had packed all the items to go to another town 45 min away, but needed help to pack the house for the items that would go to storage and then to another state. The 2nd truck did not arrive until after lunch. They ran out of stickers. Joe added items to the inventory list that were small and likely to get lost rather than packing them with larger items. He listed items in a foreign language so now we do not know what they might have been. The smaller truck to go to the local move was not finished loading until 6:30 pm that day. The driver was told to follow me to the new town so he wouldn't get lost. He drove like a maniac, talking on his cell phone without a bluetooth or wired headset the whole way which is against the law. Four times he swerved off of the highway and put himself and other drivers in danger. I called my husband so he could inform the foreman at the house that the driver was driving erratically. Joe must have finally reached the driver because when we got to the destination, the driver became abusive to me and was dropping several items and breaking them. I called my husband again so he could inform the foreman. Nothing changed. It was Saturday so I could not call the Ori van lines office as they were not open. The 2nd truck did not finish loading until almost midnight. It was over 15 hours before they finished loading and packing. I had asked them several times if we could continue the following day, but was told by Joe, that the trucks had to be used on another job the next day. My husband was told by Joe that we used "too many boxes" and that we would have to pay for them. We had to put the extra charges on a credit card. Our original estimate was $3600 and they ended up charging us $11808! Then Joe asked my husband for a tip! We felt that we had been abused all day and then were forced into giving them a tip. On top of that, we paid for lunch for the crew and provided them with a case of water. They acted like they were owed those things. I have never seen such poor attitudes. We never saw the bill of lading nor the weight bill so we have no idea what the weight really was! When the shipment arrived in another state two weeks later, we had extensive damage and stolen or lost items. It was a subcontract driver, not an ORI van lines truck or driver like promised. Any time I called the office manager for an explanation, she was unresponsive, denied any wrongdoing on their part, and gave me no resolution for any problems. After going over the inventory list again, we are still missing over 60 items and boxes. We think we know which items never showed up. The delivery driver tried to give us someone else's room rug and I had to tell him 3 times it was not our rug. It was like he wanted to get rid of it! This company has not exhibited good faith and I will not recommend it to anyone. They will not provide you with any of the required items (by law, I might add) and will not follow through with trying to find lost items. The worst movers we have ever used in over 60 years of military and civilian moves!
