My teenage son received the Meade 40 AZ-P Telescope as a gift. Two months later, the thin plastic parts that hold the telescope to the tripod are broken. Apparently the securing screw can be turned too tightly and cause the plastic to completely break in two. There is a one year limited warranty, so I call to request replacement parts. They can not help me. Not even when I am willing to buy the parts. I am told it is a discontinued product. So much for a warranty! Customer service? NO.
