Review 10/13/2009
|
For a period of six weeks I was called twice daily by Discover Card Identity Theft Protection telemarketers and asked each time for them not to call me. No one ever honored my request. Then, in August 2009 I was signed up without my explicit permission, as a result of one of their unwanted telephone calls. When that occurred I called Discover Card to report the unauthorized charge to my account and to cancel my account. I was told that the account would be cancelled but that it could affect my credit report. I asked if that was a threat. The result was that I was credited with a partial refund of the unauthorized Identity Theft Subscription leaving a balance of $2.78. There was no activity on this account for years. As I thought I had a zero balance at that point I was shocked to see a bill in the amount of $12.78 this month, October 2009, which included a $10.00 late fee. I reported this to the Federal Trade Commission while Discover tells me it will take 30 days to resolve...Who is going to protect me against THEFT FROM DISCOVER CARD ITSELF?
