I had previously began the modification process with my mortgage lender and laid much of the ground work when I hired C&R Loan Modifications to assist me in getting the best rate possible. I had many communication issues from the start. I submitted all of the information they requested immediately. When I attempted to contact them to verify that my documentation was submitted to my lender I was unable to reach anyone and always had to leave messages or send emails. When I would finally hear back from Amanda she usually had some excuse and would ask for more information, which I readily provided. I was later informed by my lender that my request for a modification was denied because they had not received information that had been requested. The same information that I provided to Amanda many weeks prior. After many attempts to reach her she told me that everything was handled. When I called my lender to verify they once again said nothing had been received. Growing more frustrated I called and emailed several people at C&R with no response.
I finally got the owner Chris Monticello's cell phone number. When I spoke with him he informed me that many of his employees had been fired due to fraud. He did a conference call with me to my lender and falsified my financial information, which I objected to and corrected. After a lengthy conversation it was confirmed that my lender had all the information necessary to proceed in considering my modification. I was concerned with what Chris had told me and also the false information that he attempted to provide to my lender. He assured me I had to fall within certain guidelines to be considered. Feeling no better I went to his office to see for myself what was going on.
When I arrived and met with Chris he told me he was previously unaware of the illegal practices taking place and would be there on a daily basis personally handling all files. I expressed my concern that his offices would be closing. He looked me straight in the eye and told me that would never happen. He assured me of his money back guarantee should his company not be able to help me. I left still feeling unsure but hopeful. After returning from a business trip and once again several attempts to contact the company and Chris personally on his cell I went to the office today. I can confirm that the office is completely empty, and the website and phone lines are no longer functional. I will be pursuing all available options to recover my money and encourage all of you to do the same.
