North-West College = Disappointment and regret.
First of all, I could've taught the frickin' medical assisting class at North-West. I'm not saying it was easy, but my 2 year old kid knows more about medical assisting than any teacher there. The medical experience the teachers have there have to be EXTREMELY limited, for I was constantly correcting my instructor on simple anatomy terms and such. I took a basic anatomy/physiology class YEARS ago in high school and was taught more there about human anatomy and structure than at this school. And I won't even get started on the hands-on/lab training. Having to fight for lancets, or syringes when needing to practice, having two instructors teach you differently. Shouldn't there be enough supplies? Shouldn't both teachers be in sync on the steps for each procedure? Now... the career services department. WOW! One of the girls in there (I'm not going to name names) but wow, she slurs her words, she loses her train of thought, and cannot remember your name... let alone her own. She's called in the late hours of the evening to inform that she's sent my resume out to several doctors but I have yet to hear from any of these doctors. She asks me what job search engines I've been using on my own and when I repeat 5-6 different ones she hasn't heard of at least 2-3 of them, and then she suggests I try Craigslist. LMAO! Craigslist! Wow, brilliant move there. Another one in the career services center asks me to come in so I can get some more leads, then proceeds to set me up on a computer only to search through the same search engines I was viewing at home. *smh!* Reception = rude. Woman in charge of books/supplies/uniforms = clueless, and annoying. Computers instructor = major a-hole and forgetful. Director = acts as if she knew who i was cared, but really had no clue and doesn't seem to give a shit. 2 people I loved at the school were my admissions rep, who sadly moved halfway through my time at NWC. and SOS teacher. Even though the SOS class itself is EXTREMELY pointless. All in all, North-West was a useless and upsetting experience. If I were to give you one tiny sliver of advice it would be... Don't attend, all they want is your money, and you'll have none to give to them because you'll be jobless/broke afterwards.
