NEVER HIRE HIM. He is swindler

NEVER HIRE HIM. Melvy is a swindler and will steal your money.
I hired him for the landscaping project in Jan. 2021. He promised to finish the job in a week and asked for upfront money ($1750) for purchasing materials.
He showed up to pick check and worked a few hours for raking.
He didn't show up for follow-up visits and excused that his son was born. He kept delayed his visit and excused that his son is in an emergency. He promised to send workers but didn't send anyone. He even excused that his son was dead.
He delayed the visit over 10 times and finally didn't respond. I asked to return the money but he didn't. He said he used the money to purchase materials. I asked him to send receipts for materials if he purchased but he never provided those.
I am working on getting back money through the court. I checked various websites and noticed that he is a habitual offender.
