Review 11/5/2010
All I can say is DO YOUR RESEARCH before you decide to go to Minguita's. You will soon find out that there are waaay more bad reviews than good, and most of the good ones that they do have are very cliche!

My first mistake was not seeing their reviews before ordering my dress there in early May of 2010. I was quoted and estimated delivery date of 3 months and was told it will be here by August.. Just in time, because my wedding is in November, right? WRONG!! My second mistake was not getting that in writing on the contract. But I was in there, and I really did trust them that by August I would have my dress.

The week before August I called to see when my dress was going to come in, so now I'm told, "Oh no it is not 3 months, it is 4 months!" Then they said "We will call you when it gets here".. I was really upset, and decided to just cooperate with them. September came and no call.. NOTHING! I called them, and by this time I had already found out about all the awful experiences other brides went thru. I took matters into my own hands, called the designer (company) myself to see if my dress was indeed ordered. I lost all trust in them, and when I would call they always wanted to cut me short.. Margarita, Erdelinda I can't remember all their names but I must have talked to all of them there and they are all the same. They kept changing dates on me, and making up excuses. The company was able to confirm that my gown was ordered but they were not able to tell me about shipping time. So the excuses continued, until finally I'm given an estimated delivery date of 10/16.

Okay, my wedding is Nov 20th (in 2 weeks yaay). No bride should have her first fitting a month before! Or in my case less than a month. I was finally able to go and pick up my dress 10/23. When I would call they kept asking me when my wedding was. I lied to them and told them it was Nov 6th so they could hurry the hell up with my dress but you think they cared? Hell no!! They asked me again when I went to get my dress and I said the truth.. the 20th. I think they got the hint. But get this, the week before I got my dress, they still kept lying.. On Wednesday they told me, "UPS is scheduled to deliver it today" they didn't call me again, so I called the next day, "I just checked the tracking number and Fed Ex will deliver it by Monday"... Wait a minute, UPS or FedEx? When I asked for a tracking number they refused to give me one. They try to lie to me like I was born yesterday.. I think NOT! I told them I have bought many things online and that tracking numbers are not off by like 3 days, that's just ridiculous!!

Anyway, I did NOT make the third mistake, and leave my dress there for alterations!! I do not care if alterations are included.. NO WAY!! I had absolutely NO TRUST in them and the last thing I wanted was to leave my dress there! The day I went I tried it on to make sure it was okay and took it home.

DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THE BEST PART?? This one kinda makes me laugh to be honest, when I was at the shop they added a "bustle" to my dress. Two strings to tie together and ta-da you got yourself a bustle!! It was the most HORRIFIC bustle ever!! Not a Traditional or a French bustle like most EXPERIENCED bridal shops will do.. I never seen anything so ugly. I took a picture of it! & when I got home I noticed a stain on the dress that I failed to see at the shop. I know it was fixable so I let it go, but still the stain came from there.. Geez!! Luckily I found a great seamstress on Project Wedding who is now working on my dress and is doing a real bustle, altering my dress, and removing that stain! Even my seamstress who has years of experienced looked at the bustle they made for me and she couldn't believe it!! She said that in order to do a bustle you need to know the brides height and other details..If only I could post a pic of that bustle they did, it will show exactly what type of bridal shop they are... I was put under a lot of stress, and that is the last thing a bride needs.. dress stress.

If you are like me, and reading reviews AFTER you have purchased your dress there. All I can tell you, is relax and be smart. Do not give them the benefit of the doubt, keep em' on their toes, make sure you call and they are aware that you are up to date with your dress. I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't get my deposit stolen, even if they didn't do this to me, I know they did it to other people.. they are liars and just that shady!!

If you are thinking about going there, I'm not one to say don't.... just do your research and I'm sure you'll know exactly what to do. But I would NEVER recommend Minguita's to anyone, unless I hated them. But nah, now that I think about it, I wouldn't even recommend Minguita's to my worst enemy. Ha! What does that tell you?

Good luck :)
